Live Well and Be Happy

Undoubtedly, 2020 had been a tumultuous year for all of us. For some, it could even be a year of sadness and loss. Loss of freedom, loss of stability, loss of jobs, and even loss of loved ones. As I'm writing this, the world is still battling hard with the pandemic.

As we stepped into 2021, let's embrace Faith, Hope and Love. We will continue to learn new things, change and transform our lives to accommodate new ways of working, playing and living. Focus on family, health and the environment. Keep our mind and body active always. Besides family, remember that friends play an important role in our social and mental health. So, my friends, have a truly blessed new year. Whatever life throws at you; all this will pass.

We still look forward to your content contribution. Be it written articles, poems, photographs, or activities that you wish to share, we will be pleased to publish them on AutumnLife. If you have read an interesting book, please contribute to our Book Corner. contributions@autumnlife.sg

Chit-Chat with Dr Charles Lim on 3 May 2017 at The Larder Cafe Looking at his upright posture, healthy complexion and pony-tailed grey hair, you would know that Dr Charles Lim is a different kind of 75-year-old. He’s also the one brave Autumn Life member who agreed to kick off our Chit-Chat @ AutumnLife series. Over afternoon tea, our good doctor set out to describe his simple formula for living well. He still runs a clinical practice, but his views on healthy living clearly draw on experiences and observations beyond his medical training. Read more...
Her voice brimming with vitality, Joanna Wong declared, "I'm the same, whether in the morning, afternoon or night!" She attributed her vitality to her regular use of Chinese herbs. We could well believe it. Her energy and enthusiasm had lit up the café right from the start of our second AutumnLife event. The author of "Herbalicious - Contemporary Cooking with Chinese Herbs" spoke and took questions on her subject of passion for an hour and a half. The book was published this year. Joanna's knowledge of herbal cooking was the culmination of her fifteen years of experience at Eu Yan Sang, and her own love of cooking. Read more...
Our inaugural AutumnLife event on a rainy weekday afternoon was a cosy, informal affair. About a dozen AutumnLife members gathered at Dr Lee Su Lan's homely and pleasant workspace. Dr Lee's talk on the need to care for our body, mind and spirit was both heartfelt advice to all present, as well as a testimony of her own journey towards total health. She wanted us to understand that our thoughts and feelings make a difference to our health. What we think, how we feel and what we do are all related. "Everything is energy. Your thought begins it. Your emotions amplify it, and your actions increase the momentum," she said. Read more...
